Why We’re Here
Beat of the Street is a forum where real people can share their real experiences with homelessness. We created the newspaper so that members of our community who often go unheard can share their stories and insights. Through our efforts, we hope to offer opportunities of empowerment along the way.
While homelessness is a struggle many are faced with in the Hartford region, we believe it can be ended through dialogue, collaboration and empathy. But we don’t have all the answers - we see Beat of the Street as the beginning of a conversation on how to improve our community, not the end of it.

Thanks for the love, and sorry for the delayed response. How are you? Did you see the article in the Hartford Courant on Sunday? We were featured frontpage in the CTNow section

Let’s catch up soon – Nathan
My 2¢ worth is terse: The historic and affectionate reference to Connecticut as the ‘nutmeg state’ could be replaced by CT the blue chip state, where basics like housing are becoming unaffordable for the average, tax-paying, working people. Wealth creates poverty and poverty is a state of suffering. As a society we are all connected. We need to find a way to break this cycle that divides us. Thank you.
